Consistency IS Perfect

Consistency is king, and it is far better than perfection.

So, as many of you know, I’m an avid exerciser. This morning, I got up at 4:45 am to go to the gym. Since I am now fit, I think I’m going to stop exercising. I don’t think I need to workout any longer.

Oh, I also brushed my teeth this morning, and they got really clean, so I think I’m done with that too. Don’t you think?

I took a shower this morning too, so now that the rest of my body is clean, I’m glad I don’t ever have to do that again.

Sounds ridiculous right?

The way you stay fit is exercise. I’ve been working out since I was 15 years old, and I keep getting stronger and better. What would happen if I stopped? That’s right, I would lose ground, and I would become less fit over time.

I started brushing my own teeth when I was like 3, and you know what? I keep doing it, day after day, because they continue to get dirty. Same thing with showering.

And yet, people have this idea that once they are out of pain, they don’t need Chiropractic care any more. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

The truth is that Chiropractic is a wellness care modality, just like exercise, like a proper diet, and like brushing your teeth or showering. It works when you consistently do it. It doesn’t work nearly as well when you do it haphazardly, or only to fix a perceived problem. They are best utilized as part of a lifestyle program.

Wellness care depends on, no, it demands consistency. You don’t need the perfect exercise program, or the perfect diet. You just need to follow something consistently. Consistency trumps perfection unutilized.

Follow your care plans, come in more often at first to help deal with your pain and symptoms, and then as you improve, you can reduce that frequency when you graduate to healing care. And when you get to wellness care, rejoice, because you are taking great steps to improve your health, and having all the other things you are doing for your health work better.
