When we adjust people at Brilliant Life Chiropractic, we utilize a variety of different techniques. Some of these techniques can create that cracking sound that people often associate with Chiropractic. During an adjustment, your back may undergo a quick stretching of the joints in the spine, which may cause that cracking or popping noise. This is nothing to be worried about, as it is caused by bubbles of gas that are in the fluid of the joints which “pop” during the adjustment. Many of the adjustments that we do produce no sound whatsoever, and is actually very gentle, using the amount of pressure one would to test the ripeness of a tomato. Especially with children and other populations, this is the way we prefer to adjust. There is a time and a place for that kind of adjustment that will create the cracking sound, and it is not for everybody. We can work with any population, given this flexibility in the way we adjust, and the forces that we use. This is how we can work with people of any age, from newborns to the elderly, from injured athletes to healthy people looking for wellness care.
