As you guys know by now I’m a huge advocate for wellness care, for receiving chiropractic even when you have no obvious symptoms. Because of this philosophy, I get adjusted every week. When you have no obvious pain or symptoms, it’s not as immediately obvious why you should get adjusted.
Most of us tend to think we don’t need any help if we aren’t having any symptoms. That there is no upward mobility in cases like that. Really, how much better could you feel?
I felt physically strong, limber, flexible. I had no pain, workout had gone well that day. Mentally I felt sharp. Emotionally I was feeling good, and it was a great day. I was happy. So what was the adjustment for? What could chiropractic do for me?
Dr. Cheris Paresa, of Vibrant Life Chiropractic, is my Chiropractor. It’s too bad she doesn’t live in Tacoma, but she’s worth it.
It was, quite simply, one of the best adjustments I’ve ever had. I went from feeling good to great. No, not great, beyond great. I felt completely at peace. I was aware of energy moving easily and freely through my body. It was not unlike when I was practicing martial arts regularly, and got to the point where I could feel my own life energy as I practiced. But rather than aggressively forcing it, it was calm, like a wide river.
My mood uplifted, I felt better than great. I felt at peace, and completely at one with the universe. I had the thought that if enlightenment was a thing, then this is how it must feel. There was nothing wrong anywhere, and all was as it should be. I felt connected to nature, and to every other living thing. It was inspiring, and left me full of awe. I had caught glimpses of this before, during meditation, mostly. But not quite like this.
I felt as if my kid had pooped on my shoe, I would have found it a wonderful manifestation of life.
While the feelings didn’t last forever, it gave me a fantastic glimpse of what is possible when you are getting adjusted on a regular basis, helping the innate intelligence do its job, and hook us up to be our very best. I was at my best, or very nearly, anyway, after that adjustment. It didn’t happen overnight, or with just one adjustment, but with all of the adjustments leading up to that.
Chiropractic is more than just pain management. It is a way to allow your body and spirit to work in harmony, in concert. There is far more possible for us as humans than most people realize. That exploration is worth it.
